25 AUG 2015 — Have a new tune to share with you. A silly love song called “Life.”  Cheers, SW.

“Life”
life is a road it rolls on and unfolds
right before your eyes like a big surprise
It winds and it bends and sometimes it dead ends
what i’ve always found
you can turn around, you can turn around

cause life’s what you make it
and if you can take it then make it with me

i’ll write a song and you’ll sing along
like sonny & cher i’ve got you babe right there
you’ll read your book and together we’ll cook
all the things in life money just can’t buy, money just can’t buy

life’s what you make it
if you can take it then make it with me
when it leaves you aching
know you can take it and make it with me

i’ll be your beacon at night
you’ll be the sun in my sky
it’ll just be you and me in a pod two peas in a pod two peas

life’s what you make it
if you can take it then make it with me
when it leaves you aching
know you can take it and make it with me

10 February 2015

10 FEB 2015 — “Trouble” is a song written by Lindsey Buckingham of Fleetwood Mac. I’ve always loved his approach to songwriting, guitar playing and production. My version, though, is quite different from his. I do a bit of fingerpicking a la Lindsey in the song, but take a more ethereal route than the 80’s pop vibe of his recording. I also slow things down. To compare, here’s an iTunes link of his version.

I’ve recorded a few covers in the past and people sometimes ask, “Why did you decide to cover this particular song?” With “Trouble” I stumbled onto the melody while strumming on my guitar. It was fun to play so I kept at it, learning the rest of the tune. I thought, “This would be fun to produce/record,” so I did it. Hope you enjoy. -SW
